Deze tocht laat je 10 dagen lang genieten! Naast alle attracties van de sluizentocht, sluizen in alle soorten en maten, komen ook de cultuursteden aan de Samber en Maas aan bod.

De monumentale scheepsliften in Thieu zijn echte technische wonderen. Met de nieuwe schepenlift ga je 74m omhoog, compleet met schip en al, in amper een kwartier! Het stadsbezoek aan Oudenaarde en Tournai zorgen voor het culturele evenwicht. Tournai is de stad met de 100 torens en 1000 klokken en maakt aanspraak op de titel oudste stad van België. Zowel Oudenaarde als Tournai hebben een bloeiende wandtapijten geschiedenis. De fietstocht langs de sluizentrap van Blaton brengt je door het mooie heuvelende landschap naar het mooie kasteel van Beloeil. Beleef de glorie van weleer. Deze tocht voert door de groene provincie Henegouwen. Natuur in al haar aspecten komt zeker ook aan bod!

De passage van Charleroi, met zijn industrieel stalen hart, is sensationeel en uniek! Namen, de hoofdstad van Wallonië, ligt aan se samenvloeiing van Samber en Maas. Haar rijke geschiedenis is zichtbaar in de citadel en de vele monumentale gebouwen. De andere Maasparel, Huy, bestaat ook al eeuwenlang. Een wandeling in de heuvels is hier adembenemend. In Luik komen oud en nieuw, kultuur en industrie en de invloed van vele nationaliteiten in een unieke smeltkroes bij elkaar. Deze levendige stad is indrukwekkend! De reis sluit af in Maasmechelen. Hier verenigt de oude steenkoolgeschiedenis zich met het meanderende landschap van de Maas. Tot slot nog even een slag slaan in het shopping center Maasmechelen Village?

De fietsers moeten hier rekening houden met enkele kuitenbijters. Ook is kaart-navigatie een vereiste. Er zijn amper bewegwijzerde fietsroutes in deze regio.

Deze route wordt ook in de omgekeerde richting gevaren. Vraag ons of ze vertrekt / aankomt in Oudenaarde of Maasmechelen!

This tour combines the highlights of the locks Tour B with the cultural cities along the river Maas: Namur, Huy and Liège.

You will encounter locks in all sizes and varieties. The old ship’s elevators at Thieu are working unesco classified monuments. The passage of the new elevator is sensational: it takes you, together with the barge, more than 70m up in less than 15 minutes. The necessary cultural highlights are provided by the cities Tournai, with 100 towers and 1000 bells, and Oudenaarde, known for ancient artistic wall carpets. Let you surprise by the beauty of Castle Beloeil with its royal parc gardens.

You will not easy forget the passage of Charleroi, with its heart of steal. At the confluence of the rivers Samber and Maas, Namur welcomes you. This capital city of Wallonia, the French community, has a rich history, well shown in the citadel and the many monumental buildings. Another pearl  at the border of the river Maas is Huy.  A walk uphill is really breathtaking! Liège is a mixture of old and modern, culture and industry, with many nationalities make this an impressive lively city. This tour ends in Maasmechelen. With the influence of the meandering river Maas, the rich mining history and the nearby border with the Netherlands will this village surely meet your wishes. This tour can be combined with bike rides, only for experienced bikers. The signposting is seldom and the hilly landscape can be challenging for untrained bikers.

This tour offers a lot of variation. The port of departure is Maasmechelen in Limbourg. The port of arrival is Oudenaarde, in the provice of East-Flandres. This tour is also offered in the other direction. Ask us if Oudenaarde or Maasmechelen is the port of departure!

Ce voyage vous faits connaissance des écluses en toutes formes. En plus vous visitez les ville culturelle de la Meuse: Namur, Huy et Liège.

Tout d’abord, le Canal du Centre historique et ses ascenseurs hydrauliques classés au Patrimoine mondial par l’UNESCO. Ensuite, le Plan Incliné de Ronquières, sorte d’écluse à sas mobiles.  Mais il y a aussi, l’ascenseur funiculaire de Strépy-Thieu. C’est un ascenseur à bateaux géant de 150 mètres de haut. A l’ombre de sa cathédrale aux 5 clochers, l’aménagement du coeur historique de Tournai convie à la visite du patrimoine architecturale et de ses 7 musées qui vous combleront de trésors artistiques. Le château de Beloeil est entièrement meublé et contient une riche collection d’objets d’art. Le jardin à la française, alternance harmonieuse d’eau et de verdure, d’ombre et de lumière, s’étend sur 25 ha.

Ce circuit de 10 jours est très aventureux.  Point de départ : Audenaerde et point d´arrivée: Maasmechelen.  Ou vice-versa.
